Sounds Story

I did the dog-barking sound. Mmkay?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Well, this definitely isn't 5th Avenue," John said to himself. The result of three hours of walking through crowded streets of homeless people, cell phones, and garbage cans had led him to the middle of nowhere. It didn't help that it was now almost midnight on a cloudy night in July, and he had no sense of where he was or even where he might be headed.

He sighed to himself and kept on walking through the damp, dirty streets. John's planned evening of dinner with friends at a fancy New York City restaurant had quickly turned into the tedious task to simply get out of the city. Not only had he missed his dinner date, but now he was headed in no general direction, not even knowing where his car was. When he thought he had found his way, he realized he had passed the Carnegie Deli about four times already. "If I wanted a turkey sandwich, I'd be in business," he sarcastically said to himself. "But all I want to do is find my car and get out of here!"

While pacing back and forth, thinking of where to meander next, he noticed a sign for a pharmacy. However, when he looked around, he didn't see a pharmacy anywhere. "Maybe it's this way," he said, and turned an eerily dark corner. However, five minutes later, he had found no pharmacy, and instead found himself in a dark alley, seeing and hearing nothing but air conditioners and police sirens everywhere. He thought of trying his cell phone, but then remembered it had been dead for over two hours. He came to another corner, and thought, "Well, this will have to lead me back to the street."

Just before his foot could step past the last brick of the wall, he heard an incessant, ferocious roar. It was the single most frightening thing he had ever heard; a bone-chilling bark that could make anyone cold with fright. He peered out from the corner of the alley and saw a beastly pit bull, complete with a spiked collar, drooling everywhere, and with obvious intentions of ripping Joe to shreds. He backed into the wall and shook with fear, longing more than ever for the safety of his Toyota Corolla, or even just a hug from a friend.
